Abstract

This study proposes to examine the educative dimension of
supervision as one of the instruments of the community health agent work’s organization. Depending on the conception of education that supports supervision, the process of internalization of the legitimacy of the position of the agent in the social division of work will be facilitated or made more difficult, promoting or diminishing alienation. Agents from different services: identify only education strategies for transmitting information; denounce their work participation executing rather than planning; and demand continuing education. This study advocates the adoption of a health supervision based on an emancipating conception of education. This approach will contribute to stimulate the participation of the health agents in the planning as well as execution of tasks; to dominate the object, the instruments and the purpose of the work process; and to reaffirm political commitment to health.
